WASTCA COVID-19 Update

covid_update_0.png

The State Government provided an update today regarding the health directives following the positive COVID case earlier this week. No indication was provided as to what the future position will be until tomorrow, Friday 5 February.

Based on the current restrictions and the uncertainty over what the situation will be post 6pm on Friday the WASTCA board has decided to abandon all matches (turf and artificial turf) scheduled for this weekend - this includes T20 and Colts matches due to be played on Sunday 7 February (these will be rescheduled and clubs notified in due course).

  • The T20 and Colts quarter finals will be moved to Sunday 21 February

  • The semi finals will be on Sunday 28 February

  • Finals will remain unchanged on Sunday 7 March

The above decision on this weekend's matches is based on our commitment to player, umpire and member safety within our competition and the health of the greater general public.

In addition to the above position, the situation this past week has resulted in more than 50% of the turf pitches requiring preparation for this weekend being compromised due to the work restrictions placed on curators by various councils and institutions.

This current round of two-day matches will be treated the same as rained or washed out matches. In other words, if there was a result on the first day, that result will stand. All other two day matches will be drawn fixtures.
Thank you all for your understanding and hopefully cricket can continue in the following weeks leading into a competitive finals series.

Regards
