WASTCA COVID-19 UPDATE - 5 Feb 2021

Good morning WASTCA Clubs

As announced yesterday, the WASTCA Board has abandoned all matches for the coming weekend, 6 and 7 February 2021.

This decision has been made in fairness to all clubs and to uphold the integrity of the entire competition.

The majority of facilities and venues have had limited or no preparation, maintenance or cleaning within the past week due to the lockdown in the Perth and Peel regions. Many playing facilities (including outfields) are not prepared and some reticulation services have not been operational. There has been no consistency across local governments and other institutions regarding staff engagement this week.

The State Government announced last night that the Perth, Peel and South West Regions will be coming out of lockdown at 6pm tonight, Friday 5 February. However, this remains subject to medical advice. The Perth and Peel regions will still have some restrictions in place until 12.01am, Sunday 14 February.

The Board will work with local councils and clubs in the coming week to seek clarity on the revised health restrictions with the aim of the competition being resumed in full for the weekend of 13/14 February.

This has obviously been a very tough decision to make and we understand everyone’s disappointment in not being able to play this weekend but life will be back to normal sooner rather than later.

For more information or any questions, please speak with your club President or club WASTCA representative

Stay safe and we look forward to getting back out and playing cricket as soon as possible.
